Sawaeid Volunteer Code of Conduct, Safeguarding Policy & Volunteer Agreement

Sawaeid is a humanitarian organisation committed to providing aid, protection, and advocacy for vulnerable communities, particularly those affected by conflict, displacement, and humanitarian crises. All volunteers represent Sawaeid and are required to uphold the highest ethical, professional, and safeguarding standards.

Section 1: Volunteer Code of Conduct

All volunteers must:
1. Act with integrity, honesty, and accountability at all times.
2. Treat all beneficiaries, colleagues, and partners with dignity and respect, without discrimination.
3. Maintain political, ethnic, and religious neutrality while carrying out humanitarian duties.
4. Follow lawful instructions from Sawaeid coordinators and management.
5. Respect local laws, customs, and cultural sensitivities.
6. Protect confidential information and never misuse data, images, or stories of beneficiaries.
7. Refrain from accepting gifts, money, or favours linked to humanitarian assistance.
8. Use Sawaeid resources responsibly and solely for authorised purposes.
9. Avoid conflicts of interest and declare any potential conflicts immediately.
10. Report misconduct, corruption, or abuse without fear of retaliation.

Section 2: Safeguarding Policy

Sawaeid has zero tolerance for abuse, exploitation, or neglect. Safeguarding applies to children, vulnerable adults, beneficiaries, staff, and volunteers.

Volunteers must:
• Do no harm.
• Never engage in sexual exploitation, abuse, harassment, or intimidation.
• Never exchange aid for money, services, or favours.
• Maintain clear professional boundaries at all times.
• Never be alone with a child unless authorised and supervised.
• Obtain informed consent before taking photographs, videos, or testimonials.
• Immediately report any safeguarding concerns to Sawaeid safeguarding officers.

Sawaeid may conduct background checks (DBS or equivalent) where legally required.

Section 3: Reporting & Whistleblowing

Any safeguarding concern, breach of conduct, or unethical behaviour must be reported immediately. Reports may be made confidentially and without fear of retaliation. Sawaeid commits to fair, prompt, and impartial investigation of all reports.

Section 4: Volunteer Agreement

By volunteering with Sawaeid, I understand that:
• I am offering my services voluntarily and without financial compensation.
• I do not represent Sawaeid outside my assigned role without authorisation.
• Sawaeid may end my volunteering role at any time if policies are breached.
• I must return all Sawaeid property upon request.
• I agree to comply with all Sawaeid policies and procedures.

Section 5: Volunteer Declaration

I declare that the information I provided is true and accurate. I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to abide by the Sawaeid Code of Conduct, Safeguarding Policy, and Volunteer Agreement.
