Jannette Hoeksema
Jannette Hoeksema serves as a Trustee of Sawaeid, contributing to the charity’s governance, strategic oversight, and accountability in line with the duties and expectations set out by the UK Charity Commission.
As a member of the Board of Trustees, she shares collective responsibility for ensuring that Sawaeid:

Jannette is a highly experienced social work professional, humanitarian practitioner, certified counsellor, and life coach, with decades of experience supporting individuals and communities facing vulnerability, trauma, and displacement. Her professional career has been defined by a strong commitment to mental health, emotional wellbeing, and empowerment-based support, particularly for women, children, and families navigating complex social and personal challenges.
A significant part of her professional work includes her role with Humanitas in Groningen, Netherlands, where she has been involved in overseeing and supporting programmes for women and children newcomers and refugees. Her work has focused on settlement support, social integration, psychosocial wellbeing, and safeguarding, helping individuals and families adapt to new environments with dignity, stability, and confidence. This experience provides the Board with valuable insight into refugee protection frameworks, community-based support models, and trauma-informed practice.
In addition, Jannette is the founder of “Living A Life Of Excellence,” a personal development and wellbeing platform through which she supports individuals in building resilience, purpose, and self-confidence. Her counselling and life coaching practice is rooted in compassion, accountability, and long-term personal growth—principles that align closely with Sawaeid’s humanitarian ethos.
Within Sawaeid, Jannette contributes specialist insight into mental health and psychosocial support, safeguarding-aware service delivery, support frameworks for women and children, and ethical care standards for vulnerable populations.
In fulfilling her trustee duties, she participates actively in board meetings, applies reasonable care and skill in decision-making, supports safeguarding and wellbeing policies, and acts at all times in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries.
Her trusteeship reflects Sawaeid’s commitment to strong governance, specialist expertise, and leadership that places human dignity, wellbeing, and accountability at the heart of its mission.
