Yaslam Ibrahim Altayeb
Yaslam Ibrahim Altayeb is a humanitarian leader, successful international businessman, Islamic scholar, and independent researcher with extensive experience in humanitarian relief, community development, and civil society leadership across Europe, the United Kingdom, and conflict-affected regions.
His humanitarian commitment is deeply personal. During the war in Sudan, Altayeb was captured, detained, and subjected to torture, and directly witnessed mass atrocities committed against civilians, including arbitrary killings, forced displacement, and the destruction of entire communities. These first-hand experiences profoundly shaped his mission and strengthened his resolve to dedicate his life to humanitarian action, justice, and giving voice to survivors and the oppressed.
Following his release, he became an advocate for victims of war crimes and survivors of violence, grounding his humanitarian work not in theory, but in lived experience, moral responsibility, and ethical commitment.
In Europe and the United Kingdom, Altayeb has been actively involved in humanitarian and community work, including volunteering with Humanitas Groningen in the Netherlands, participating in community and faith-based initiatives with AlFitrah, organising Eid and charitable activities with HHUGS, and contributing to advocacy and awareness activities related to prisoners’ rights, unlawful detention, and survivors of torture.
He has also participated in public awareness campaigns, humanitarian duʿāʾ gatherings, and community mobilisation activities in London, linking faith-based values with principled humanitarian action.
Alongside his humanitarian work, Altayeb is a successful international businessman with decades of experience operating across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He has built a wide and influential professional network including business leaders, investors, policymakers, academics, media professionals, and civil society actors. His business background enables him to apply strong principles of governance, strategic planning, sustainability, transparency, and accountability to nonprofit and humanitarian work.
