Amani Abdelhamed Khaled serves as a Trustee of Sawaeid, contributing to the charity’s governance, strategic direction, and accountability in line with the duties and expectations set out by the UK Charity Commission.

As a member of the Board of Trustees, she shares collective responsibility for ensuring that Sawaeid acts in furtherance of its charitable purposes for the public benefit, complies with its governing documents and legal obligations, safeguards beneficiaries and the organisation’s reputation, and uses charitable resources responsibly, transparently, and effectively.

Amani is a media and human rights activist, documentary film producer, and screenwriter with extensive experience at the intersection of law, media, and humanitarian advocacy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Cairo University (Khartoum branch), a Diploma in Public Law, a Diploma in Television Production, and a Diploma in Documentary Filmmaking. This multidisciplinary background enables her to approach humanitarian and rights-based work with strong legal understanding, ethical awareness, and effective storytelling skills.


Professionally, she has worked with leading documentary and media production companies, including Horizon Films in London, Hot Spot Documentary Production in Paris, and Noon Documentaries. She has contributed to the production of more than thirty documentary films broadcast on Al Jazeera Documentary, addressing complex social, humanitarian, and human rights issues.

Amani’s work has focused particularly on the rights of women and children in contexts of conflict and war. She has presented papers and contributed research on violations committed against women during armed conflict, with particular attention to the impact of war on Sudanese women. She also participated in the establishment of the initiative “Sudanese Women for the Homeland,” which focuses on advocating for and supporting women during and after conflict.

In addition to her professional work, Amani plays an active and influential role in humanitarian and charitable action. She has led and supported initiatives responding to humanitarian crises affecting civilians, with notable engagement in charitable efforts related to Gaza, Sudan, and Yemen. Her work is characterised by a strong commitment to defending the rights of the vulnerable and mobilising public awareness and support for those in need.

As a trustee, Amani brings valuable expertise in human rights, advocacy, media ethics, and public communication. She supports the Board in ensuring that Sawaeid’s programmes, partnerships, and public engagement uphold the highest standards of integrity, safeguarding, and respect for human dignity.

Her trusteeship reflects Sawaeid’s commitment to principled governance, gender-sensitive approaches, and leadership that stands firmly in support of justice, compassion, and the protection of the most vulnerable.
